Love Mission for Kids

As Love Mission was fast approaching, I wondered how I would get my children involved and then of course how all the children could get involved.  Thankfully, the wonderful powers that be at Church, thought of that for us and I am so grateful.  Here are the Love Mission Challenges for kids.  These are designed to be easy enough for 5 year olds and interesting enough for 5th graders.

Week of 04/23/2012

Meet Someone New:
This week the youngsters were challenged to independently, with parent permission and supervision, to introduce themselves to at least one new person this week.  Young or old, it didn't matter.  The kids were asked to extend their hands, shake the hand of the person that they were introducing them to and say, "Hi, my name is _______, what's yours?"

My 9 year old:
My 9 year old son, set out immediately after church and introduced himself to the first three people he came into contact with.  The only thing he refrained from was extending his hand.  At that point he became nervous.  He is going to work on that the rest of the week.

My 5 year old:
My littlest daughter also jumped on the introduction wagon and introduced herself to a couple girls in the neighborhood she didn't already know.  She didn't shake hands, but she did take their hand in hers at one point, as well as, taking  the hand of new, shy girl that morning at church and being her new "church friend" so the new girl wouldn't feel "alone".  I consider that a job well done.

My 10 year old:
